halloween dillema
you see... much like shopping for christmas presents early, i always have the best intentions with halloween. in september i acknowledge the fact that it is time to unearth the box of random clothing, make a decision, buy accessories, and be prepared so that the week leading up to halloween is enjoyable.
unfortunately my intentions did not motivate my reality, and i find myself here... two days away... with no plan other than the inevitable panic and an invitation to a large "warehouse" party that i know nothing about. (is warehouse party mid-twenty-speak for rave? i'm hoping not, but expecting the worst.)
so i do my analysis - i have a great, cute, easy cat costume. no assembly needed. i've worn it for the last two years. somehow i think there is a rule against re-using.
i have a red, velvet, plaid suit - fabulous bell bottoms and blazer - that fit me well... my mother wore them in her youth without any sense of irony. add some horns, a tail and some cleavage and you've got the 'disco devil.' a variation on this costume dates back three years... but it's a high quality costume. would need to get new horns.
i have the comprehensive catholic school girl get-up thanks to semaphoria-a-go-go. but it's an awfully short skirt and it is supposed to be near freezing. i also feel as if britney ruined the look with her dumb video. don't get me wrong - she's a fun little sex kitten and all... but i have no desire to be percieved as a britney spears wannabe.
lastly i've inherited a fun tangerine orange mini skirt with blue and glow-in-the-dark stars. (thanks lady j!) i'm thinking that i could be a fun little moon creature with antennae and glow in the dark go-go boots. today i bought the glow in the dark spraypaint (for old boots), false eyelashes and body glitter... but could find no appropriate antennae and cannot find appropriate tights or top (should be silver or glittery blue... black wouldn't work). would need serious hair help too. this seems most promising but still an uphill battle.
what to do. what to do. ideas are welcome via email.
