the city that works
portland has a motto. this motto is painted on the city vehicles, and is often printed on signs about town. everytime a portlander drives over a pothole that jostles them about, there is at least a 50% chance that someone will joke about the city motto.
unfortunately the city that works was working today. at 9 am on a sunday morning. jackhammering. two blocks away. did i mention the sunday part?
i woke up to my husband screaming "what the *&@$ IS that?" then, i too, was awake. luckily i had 8 hours of sleep at this point, he is not so lucky.
