this saturday marked the grand opening of the portland farmers market in the park blocks. i had forgotten just how satisfying eating a fig anise panini from pearl bakery can be.
other notable market event: we nearly ran over dennis kucinich, who was campaigning and causing a bit of a traffic jam in the middle of the market. lady j was astute enough to ask me why he was still running and when i commented that i didn't know she made note of the fact that this was the perfect time to ask him. i nodded in agreement and then we promptly went to buy tomato plants and breakfast radishes. he was a very tiny man.
